SpaceX To Send A Tesla Roadster Into Space.
Last month, Elon Musk tweeted that he planned on sending his first generation Tesla Roadster to orbit Mars for the Falcon Heavy Demo flight, that is scheduled for next month. Of Course, Elon cannot just send any payload into space. However, this unconventional payload has been cleared for spaceflight.
If everything goes as planned, Elon will be sending the Tesla Roadster into space next month on the Falcon Heavy Demo Flight.
In a tweet, Elon said, “I love the thought of a car drifting apparently endlessly through space and perhaps being discovered by an alien race millions of years in the future.”
It would make sense to send an electric vehicle to a planet we plan on sending humans, such as the lunar rover the Apollo astronauts drove while on the moon. Once we start colonizing other planets, such as Mars, we will need reliable transportation and fuel we can efficiently use without drilling, refining, and burning. Solar power can charge batteries that will power mostly all life support systems and machinery for the planetary explorers.
Earlier today, Elon posted the following images of the roadster inside the cleanroom mated to the PAF to his Instagram Feed.

On a side note, this Tesla Roadster is one of the cleanest vehicles on Earth and soon to be outer space.
The Falcon Heavy demo flight will be another historical moment for the private spaceflight company, SpaceX. Two years ago on Dec. 21, 2015, SpaceX successfully launched a payload for Orbcomm and then landed the Falcon 9 first stage back to land at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
