About The SES-11 Payload
EchoStar 105 or SES 11 was manufactured by Airbus Defense and Space and based on the Eurostar E3000 platform. The satellite will support the continued development of the U.S. orbital arc media distribution neighborhood and provide coverage over North America, including Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean. The spacecraft’s Ku-band capacity will replace AMC-15 at 105° W, an orbital position where EchoStar has been an anchor customer for SES since 2006. The spacecraft’s C-band capacity will provide replacement capacity for AMC-18 at the same position. The spacecraft will have an life expectancy of 15 years. The EchoStar 105 satellite weighs approximately 11,900 pounds (5,400 kilograms) at liftoff.
Update: The launch has been delayed and will launch no earlier than October 10.
